can I transfer an existing website
Hi,
I have an existing Joomla website and have no idea how to keep it updated. The person that put it together is no longer with us. I am trying to save $$,but this is effecting my existing website. I would like to use Simpleweb because of its tutorials and updates. I have a web address and everything, can I transfer it and work off of what I already have?
Regards,
Sandra

Hi Sandra,
Simplweb is a great solution for someone who is interested in beginning
or transferring a Joomla website; especially if you'd like to tap into
tutorials and daily support. Another attractive attribute to hosting
with Simplweb is that we've done the hard work of filtering through the
hundreds of extensions to offer our subscribers a core selection of
functionality that is secure, user friendly, Search Engine Optimized and
integrated with social media.
In order to transfer your existing site to us, you'll need to look at
the extensions you are currently running on your site. Most likely some
will overlap, others will not. Here's a list of what we offer:
Advanced Content Editor
Shackslides
Article Comments with Discus (www.disqus.com <http://www.disqus.com>)
Thumbnail Gallery in Articles
Article SEO analysis tool
Simply Links - SEO Internal keyword linking tool
Site Prefix/Suffix - SEO site title tool
Document Management and download
Directory System
Integration with MailChimp for email/newsletters
For example, you may be using a slide show that is different than ours -
in this instance, you would need to create a new slideshow for your site
with our extension (Shackslides). The cool thing is that the images
will be there for your to grab in your media manager, so it's just a
matter of watching the tutorials and setting up the extension in your
site the way you want it.
We'll take care of migrating your database and the details associated
with that as part of the setup.
If you'd like to move forward, go ahead and sign up for an account.
Create a new website which will serve as your temporary setup site.
This way your old site will be up an running until the new one is
ready. Start a new ticket requesting a migration, and we'll connect you
with our developer, David, who will make a copy of the database and
other files from your existing Joomla website. He'll then "paste" those
copies into your "dummy" site on Simplweb. This will bring in your
articles, menus, content, etc. At this point, you'll brush up on the
tutorials and begin to add the final touches to your site - like using
some of the new extensions we offer. Once it is ready, you'll go to
your registrar and point your DNS to the new site hosted at Simplweb.
Voila, the changes are in place and your new site will begin showing
when someone types in your URL or searches for your organization or
product in Google.
All the best,
Dawn
