Registration email link
Hello,
I did a test registration on my site and it worked great. The
only question is, why does the link back to my site still read
522autism.simplweb.com in the registration confirmation email? I
thought this was cleared up to read autismsupportonline.com.
Please advise. I'm not sure where to go to fix this.
Regards,
Sandra

Hi Sandra,
I'm amazed that this issue has never come up before. I've spoken with David and he's looking into writing a script that would check your domain manager to see if you've added a URL and then use that for the email response instead of the native Simplweb URL. This could take a week or two so feel free to prompt me with reminders. In the meantime I've removed the Simplweb link and looked at your template. The template you've chosen sets up three columns along the bottom for the footer and currently you have them all filled. If you would like to add another custom module location to the template, I'd be happy to do that as part of our by-the-hour services. It would take about 20 minutes and the hourly rate is $75/hour. Once implemented, you would be able to assign a module to the gray area beneath the content of the site.
All the best,
Dawn

Thank you, I didn't realize that the footer would be placed in one of the columns in the bottom module. I will see if I can replace one of them with the copywrite info. As always, I appreciate your time.
The other issue with the email response URL for registration probably has never come up because it seems most of your clientele are pretty proficient in designing websites. I, myself have never done this before and am learning as I go. Do you think it is something I can look into with GoDaddy or Mailchimp? Or is it within Simplweb's administration?
Again, thank you,
Sandra

Hi Sandra,
You can better control the email registration process response with Mailchimp and if you don't need to collect anything but a first and last name and an email, I would go this route since it is more elegant and creates easily accessible lists for campaigns.
Thanks for your kind words, it's our pleasure.
All the best,
Dawn

Dawn,
I just realized that the mailchimp account I have is for email registration to send out newsletter. I have some items on the site that are only available to registered users and I believe that I would have to set that up with the login module in Joomla. So, I guess I am going back to my original question, how can I have my new registered users receive a confirmation email with a URL link back to my site that reads autismsupportonline.com rather than 522autism.simplweb.com?
Also, how do you prevent spammers from registering? I just deleted one.
Thanks,
Sandra

Hi Sandra,
We're in the process of adding a captcha to the websites to lessen the number of spammers that register. Keep your eyes on your mailbox.
I've just returned from Virginia, so let me look into your email/registration email tomorrow.
All the best,
Dawn

Hi Sandra,
We've tested the captcha and it's working great, now we are asking the developer to add it to his spec so we can install it on all sites. This will reduce the spam your getting.
As for the registration email. I have an idea. I think you set this up while you were using your simplweb.com site URL. Try deleting the module and creating it from scratch while in your new URL - the one you want for your email. Let's see if that works.
All the best,
Dawn
