How do I Forward My Domain?

Using your own domain is easy. There are two different methods, depending on whether you are on the Simplweb 1.0 or Simplweb 2.0 platform.

When you first create your Simplweb Site, it will have a URL something like:
http://MYSITENAME.simplwebsite.com

No-one (including Google) can reach the site unless you give this url to people.

When you are ready to show your site to the world, you probably want to have your own domain for it, like http://www.mysite.com.

To do this you need to register a domain (we recommend GoDaddy) and edit the "DNS".

Simplweb 1.0

  1. Make a CNAME alias to www.simplwebsites.com. (note the plural and period on the end)

  2. Make an A record to 72.52.251.34

Simplweb 2.0

  1. In the backend of the site you want to set up, go to Components > Site Manager > Domain Manager

  2. Enter your domain and save

  3. Click Apply (make sure you do this step and don't just save and leave)

  4. Create A records in the domain manager of your domain registrar pointing to 173.203.109.69

    • www IN A 173.203.109.69
    • @ IN A 173.203.109.69

NOTE: It may take a up to 24 hours for all of these changes to take effect. If you aren't sure how to do these, and are using GoDaddy, we'll be more than happy to set this up for you.

Please note, you must be able to edit A records and CNAME's in your registrar, not all allow you to do this. You do not need to point to any nameservers.
